Deutschland

Slightly larger than the Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse, the Deutschland pushed up the Transatlantic speed record to 24 knots.

She looked very similar to the Kaiser but was in fact owned by the Hamburg-Amerika Line, and succeeded in holding the Blue Riband for less than a year before North German Lloyd resumed their supremacy.

She was converted into a cruiser during the Great War, but her speed was so drastically reduced by the heavy armaments she had to carry that she eventually fell into disuse and went to the breaker's yard in 1925..
