| During Mauretania's twenty two year reign many other ships were built, not only in Britain, the North German Lloyd Company and the French had both launched new "schnelldamfer" and "paqueboat" before the war. Among these new ships were the giant Olympic, and her ill fated sister ship Titanic, the French Line's France, the Hamburg-Amerika Line's Imperator, vaterland and Bismark, and Cunard's Aquitania. With her four graceful funnels she joined the Atlantic battle in 1814 and sailed alongside Lusitania and Mauretania before snatching the record briefly in 1929, only to lose it just months later to the North German Lloyd's new superliners Europa and Bremen. Aquiatania set new standards of comfort and haute cuisine for her pampered transatlantic passengers.
